Our Film Excerpt in New Exhibition on Race in Dresden – May 19, 2018 to Jan. 6, 2019

Pleased to announce our small part in the upcoming new exhibition on race at the Deutsches Hygiene Museum in Dresden, Germany. Film footage from our documentary film, “Forget Winnetou: Loving in the Wrong Way” (2018), will be part of a critically needed discussion on the origins of the race myth, and the subsequent creation and uses of stereotypes within the white supremacist power structures and institutional racism that is standard operating procedure for European run countries, (descendants or directly) wherever they are in the world.

“Forget Winnetou! Loving in the Wrong Way” (2018)

The only film of its kind, a documentary produced and directed by Red Haircrow on Native stereotypes in Germany, white supremacy and the racism they and other peoples of color face on a daily basis. This is a reality often very different from the experiences of occasional visitors and performers enthralled by the “Indian Craze”, first inspired by Karl May’s series of books, on a fictional Apache chief named Winnetou. Available in 2018. Websites forgetwinnetou.com & .de.

Documentary film in English and German audio, with either English or German subtitles.

Thanks to Everyone! Feb.11-Our Screening at Delphi Theater in Berlin!

premiere

Sincere thanks to everyone who came out to our screening of Forget Winnetou! Loving in the Wrong Way, (formerly, Going Beyond Native Stereotypes) on Sunday, at the Delphi Theater in Berlin! I so appreciate each and every one for taking the time on a rather sleepy Sunday. Here’s a photo from the Q&A panel that included myself, Johnny Clyde, Viveka Frost and Kendall Old Elk. Special shout-out to Therese Degen for moderating in a great way!

We first saw Viveka Frost’s short documentary as part of an upcoming full length film. It’s titled Reclamation. Before going on to “Forget Winnetou!” and a talk after the film. Better dialogue, collaboration, communication. We need these things on so many challenging issues in our societies and world.

This was our only scheduled screening in Berlin at this point in time. Naturally, we would love to show it other places. If you are interested in a screening at your university, organization, group and so forth, please contact us for your idea or offer.

Logline: “It’s not about Winnetou. It’s about you and us.”
