“Taken from today’s most disturbing  news headlines from around the world, The Altered Boys Club may be the most gut-wrenching mystery novel you have ever read and the most important. Not since Andrew Greeley’s novel ‘Priestly Sins’ has a novelist tackled the issue of pedophile priests. This time, however, we are led through the story by a victim, an Iroquois boy named Ajit.”

Description: “Synchronicity. Not only does award-winning investigative journalist Sebastian Stephens believe in it, synchronicity guides his life. Stephens was teased throughout the day by the spirit of an Indian boy he encountered in his dreams. When a cryptic message from a Native American apparition asks him to save her boy, he figures it must have something to do with the spirit-boy, but he doesn’t really understand his mission until arrives in New York City. There at the invitation of his friend Detective Cliff Nolte, synchronicity points the way.

Since their last collaboration, Nolte has been appointed head of a special task for investigating a suspected ring of pedophiles that includes a number of Catholic priests in Brooklyn. He happened to call his friend Sebastian in New Orleans to come to the city as a consultant right before Nolte is called about the discovery of the body of a young American Indian boy near a charity donation bin. The cause of death is apparent drug overdose, but there are too many questions to simply close the case.

The next day when Stephens is taken to the morgue, he recognizes boy from his dream. Clearly, the death of this boy is linked to the subject of Nolte’s task force. The synchronicity is much too strong to be otherwise. The other connections the two men uncover will leave Stephens staring into an abyss he never suspected existed.”

The Soul Of A Dark Mind: “Book Of Soul” By Jeffrey Bolden

“Feel free to dive into the mind of the struggling artist… but beware and know that you enter such darkness at your own risk, and know it is always darkest before the dawn.”

“Ever wonder what it was like inside of the mind of the disenfranchised? Those that truly know of no peace within the borders of the United States? Those that battle every day against the demons that plague inside of them? Well here is your chance to get to know what truly lies inside of the imagination of the depraved and the honest. Jeffrey Bolden, with his earnest poetry and imaginative short stories, has graphically gifted us with a glimpse of a truly dark mind inside of his new book, Book Of Soul.

With poetry ranging from topics such as suicide and belonging or lack thereof, to short stories about what it would be like to work as Satan’s own hit man or maybe what it would be like to visit Heaven on an unexpected trip. This book takes you on a trip through hell and back only to find Heaven as this young man fins retribution in all of the ills he has experienced and the joy he has come to know as this dark mind finds it’s place in the world. Book Of Soul, ladies and gentleman. Guarantee there is nothing on the market quite like this. Quite this honest.”

Author Profile:

Want to know one thing about me? I sincerely hate writing a biography about myself. It makes me feel as though I’m gloating, but here it is. I was born October 23, 1987 in San Diego, CA, but I am so Southern. Spent most of my life in the Southern States, living everywhere from New Orleans to McComb, MS to Gulfport, MS, but I’ve also had the distinct pleasure in living in places like Japan and Hawaii. But again, I didn’t just live in those places. If you were to look at my school transcript history and my moving history, you would probably think I was on a world tour my entire life and you wouldn’t be that wrong.

My mom was in the Navy so being in the Navy I got to travel and experience a lot. Some good and some bad just like everybody, but along the way, I’ve developed many talents. Not just artistically, but socially as well, which is why I may seem like such an enigma. Usually writers are known for their reclusive behavior, that’s why I get such strange looks when I tell people I am an author. Then they actually read my stuff and then people see why I’m an author. I’ve been called the voice before, an inspiration as well. That’s when I learned that I have power behind these words, and in the great word of Stan Lee, “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.” I have a responsibility to every person who was told would never achieve or would never grasp their dreams because of either where they come from or their past. I owe it to them to show the world that even a Bad Boy like myself can do good. See I told you it was going to seem like I’m gloating.

Description: The year 1895 was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for gross indecency under Britain’s recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When news of Wilde’s conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wilde’s imprisonment. It is a chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.

Editorial Reviews:

“Paulette Mahurin’s first novel is surefooted and unflinching in its portrayal of a singular and unique character and her compelling struggles. Compassionate and confident, Mahurin allows Mildred’s story to burn through onto the page with all its inherent outrage and tenacious, abiding love. Here is a character we can champion—flawed, striving, surviving— and fully embrace in her awkward, beautiful navigation of a world that resists her in every way.”      Deb Norton, Playwrite/screenwriter of The Whole Banana

“If you need to question your values, read this book! The author captures the intolerance and hypocrisy of a 1895 Nevada town, and its transcendence in time through tolerance and understanding.  The angst and pain that two women feel daily, living the ‘lie’ of  their lesbian relationship, and the prejudice they must endure, is unconscionable.  I
was moved to tears by their struggle in the face of the conflicted values that continue to dominate our ‘modern’ society.”   –
William K. Fox, PhD, Professor of Zoology
