Coming September 23rd-A Short Story & Novella Collection by Red Haircrow

varianceK SM

From the author of “The Agony of Joy”, winner of the Global Ebook Awards 2013 in Best LGBT Fiction, Variance is a collection of ten short stories and novellas by Red Haircrow ranging from contemporary to fantasy, the surreal and thought-provoking to the innocently poignant.

Although some see “variance” as suggestive of disharmony, it can be the reality of achieving, understanding, expressing and conveying a variety of emotions, schools of thought, relationships, personalities, and more, without limitation, exhibiting the ranges possible within one’s being.

As a story collection, Variance displays the range of a multi-talented poet and author who has been described as having a “magnificent command of language” and “a gift for descriptive prose.”

GalleyCat’s Writing Contest eBook “Varney the Vampire: A Literary Remix”

It started a couple of months ago, a Literary Vampire Remix Writing Contest created by GalleyCat. Writers had the opportunity to participate in this “cooperative” effort to put a new twist on an old vampire classic, being assigned a page to rewrite in whatever style they wished: poetry, a song lyric, freeform, whatever. The end product has now been compiled, edited, and is FREE for download on Smashwords. My page was 156. Download the original, and then try the remix!

Varney the Vampire: A Literary Remix

By Jason Boog on December 20, 2012 5:50 PM

We are proud to unveil Varney the Vampire: A Literary Remix, a free digital book featuring the work of GalleyCat readers. We used Smashwords to publish the final product, and you can download a free copy in all major eBook formats.

Here’s more about the book: “A crew of dedicated GalleyCat readers remixed a single page from Varney the Vampire-a bestselling vampire novel from the 19th Century filled with enough star-crossed romance, vampire action and purple prose to inspire another Twilight trilogy.”

At Smashwords: “In the fall of 2012, GalleyCat hosted a writing contest to celebrate Mediabistro’s Media App Summit.

Illustrating the Media App Summit’s spirit of digital innovation, a crew of dedicated writers remixed a single page from Varney the Vampire-a bestselling vampire novel from the 19th Century filled with enough star-crossed romance, vampire action and purple prose to inspire another Twilight trilogy.

More than one hundred and sixty years after the novel was published, these readers found new ways to tell the melodramatic vampire story. They rewrote the pages in their unique style, from poetry to Twitter updates to illustrations to Facebook accounts to imitations of great writers.”

Coming December 1, 2011: “Chill Run” by Russell Brooks, Thriller Author

What’s Chill Run?

You know a publicity stunt has backfired when someone dies.
“Starving author Eddie Barrow, Jr, will do anything to get a book deal with a NYC publisher. Even if it means getting caught by the media while engaging in S&M with a female celebrity as a publicity stunt. What Eddie gets instead are details of a billion dollar fraud scheme from a suicidal client who’s fatally shot minutes later. Now on the run from the law and the killers, Eddie seeks help from two unlikely friends—an alcoholic and a dominatrix. With few resources, Eddie races to clear his name, expose the fraud scheme, and expose the killers before he becomes their next victim.”
Release date December 1, 2011 in eBook and in paperback.

Pandora’s Succession
This is Russell’s debut novel, featuring CIA operative Ridley Fox. Many readers have compared it to The Bourne Identity for its edge-of-your-seat, high-octane plot.
What are people saying about Pandora’s Succession?

“It was absolutely bio-terrorism at its worst and I loved it.” Lou Brandau.

Unsavory Delicacies
These are three short stories of suspense with the common theme of fine dining and revenge. And Ridley Fox makes an appearance.
What people are saying about Unsavory Delicacies?

“These Robert Ludlum style spy shorts were quick and satisfying. They were a pleasure to read.” Austin James.

“With Unsavory Delicacies, Russell Brooks has cleverly crafted three suspense tales complete with surprise endings and amazingly well developed characters to entertain us.” Lynette Phillips.
